Community Guidelines
Draft notice: this text is under lawyer review before launch. It is not legal advice.
BeforeVows exists so two people can have honest, kind conversations about big things. These rules protect that. They apply to everyone, in every part of the service.
Our rules
- Answer for yourself. Give your own honest answers. Do not answer for someone else, and please do not use AI tools to answer.
- No pressure. No one should be pressured, threatened or tricked into joining, answering, paying, approving or staying. If you feel pressured, you can leave at any time.
- Invite only people who expect it. Only invite someone you know and who would welcome the invitation. Never invite someone who asked you not to contact them.
- Respect a no. If someone declines, ends a connection or blocks you, accept it. Do not try other ways to contact them through the service.
- Be who you are. Use your own name and email. Do not pretend to be someone else.
- Keep private things private. Do not share your partner's report or answers publicly, or use them to shame, threaten or control them.
- No harassment or hate. No abuse, threats, intimidation, or discrimination because of race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, caste, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, age or health.
- 18 and older only.
- Nothing unlawful. No fraud, no illegal activity, no content that exploits or endangers anyone, especially children.
- Do not misuse the service. No bots, scraping, hacking, or attempts to get around limits, payments or security.
- This is not a place for emergencies. If you or someone else is in danger, contact your local emergency number. See the Safety page for support.
Reporting
You can report a person, an invitation or a problem from the service (Report a problem) or by writing to support@beforevows.app. Reports are confidential: the person you report is not told who reported. Please do not include your answers or private details in a report unless needed.
What happens next
We review reports. Depending on what we find, we may give a warning, limit features, block invitations, suspend or remove an account, and, where necessary for safety or the law, contact the authorities. If your account is removed for breaking these rules, a pair credit may not be issued. You can ask us to reconsider a decision by replying to our message.
